How can you effectively evaluate M&A opportunities?

Easily determine whether the wells you are evaluating fit within your criteria and are worth exploring further or if you prefer to avoid this deal.

Check out this brief tutorial to discover how to effectively evaluate M&A opportunities. Learn how to create a thorough project in WellDatabase, covering key details, conducting offset searches, utilizing analytics, and making accurate forecasts.

Deal Evaluation

Filter to the wells that are included in the evaluation process either using the filters or create an area of interest using multiple closed polygons from a shapefile

Create the Project

Name your project uniquely, choose M&A as the project type, provide a description, and then save to create the project.

Next, if you would like to include offset searches, use the checkbox in the new window and set the desired offset distance. Save the changes to include these wells in the project and create the offset searches.

Analyze Data

Select My>Projects from the ribbon, then click the name of your newly created M&A project.

Choose the project you want to access, and the navigate the tabs on the side panel.

Dashboard

The dashboard provides essential project details such as the project name, description, owner, and more. Additionally, the project activity stream shows a detailed history of all changes made to the project with timestamps. By clicking on the links within the activity stream, you can quickly access the well details.

Discussion

The discussion board serves as a space for initiating and documenting discussions related to the project. All users, including viewers, have the ability to start and respond to topics on the discussion board, fostering collaboration and communication within the project.

Wells

Within the well tab, you can view the wells that have been included in the project. To learn more about adding wells to a project, refer to the article: How do I add a well to a project. This tab displays the name of the wells, the contributor who added it to the project, and any notes associated with the well. By clicking on the well's name, you can directly access the Well Details page.

Searches

Discover more through offset searches and utilize the analytics tools to evaluate the wells included in your project or from any offset searches established in your M&A project. All searches are confined within the offset distance specified during project creation.

Offset Searches

        • First Production: All wells that have a first production data after the earliest first production date in your project wells.
        • Lateral Lengths: All wells within the range of the shortest - 1000ft and longest        + 1000 ft lateral in your project.
        • TVD's: All wells within the range of the shortest - 1000ft and longest + 1000 ft TVD in your project.
        • Top 5 - Operators: Wells belonging to the top 5 operators (by well count) in the offset distance.
