What data is contained in Formation Records?

Formation data is helpful in understanding the geological characteristics of wells and their completion targets. This article explains the key data fields used to track and analyze formation information in the database.

Formation Identification Fields

  • Formation Name: The standardized name of the formation
  • Reported Formation Name: The formation name as originally reported

Depth Measurements

  • Top Depth: The top depth of the formation
  • Base Depth: The depth of the base of the formation
  • Top TVD: Formation top true vertical depth

Formation Analysis Fields

  • Is Target: Flag indicating whether the formation was targeted for completion
  • Method Obtained: Method used to determine the formation top
  • Comments: Additional notes or remarks about the formation

Identification Fields

  • Completion Id: State completion identifier reference
  • Id: Internal unique identifier
  • Well Id: Unique identifier for the associated well
  • Simple Id: Integer-based well identifier for simplified querying
  • Internal Id: Unique record identifier as an integer for quick querying

Dates

  • Date Created: Date record was created in WellDatabase
  • Date Last Modified: Most recent modification date in WellDatabase
  • Date Catalogued: Date and time the record was added to the export database

Data Model

Alongside the Formation Record, WellDatabase provides an Interpreted Formation Record for enhanced data analysis and insights. The schema in our data model provides a complete and detailed framework for capturing and analyzing the data available in WellDatabase.
