How do I identify operators similar in size for an area?

In this scenario, our goal is to identify operators in a the Permian that have a comparable number of wells to a chosen company. By analyzing their production volumes, we can pinpoint companies of similar size that are active in this area.

First we will use our filters to locate the wells that we are interested in, starting with the Permian basin.

Next, we will apply additional filters to refine our search and identify the specific characteristics of the wells that align with our interests. At the top of the filters panel, you will find an option labeled "Applied." Clicking on this will display only the filters you have currently activated, as shown below.

To enhance our visualization, we will assign distinct colors to our well spots and categorize our production chart based on the "Current Operator - Aliased."

The option to assign colors to the well spots can be found in the tools panel located on the right side of your map, while the grouping feature is accessible at the top of each dashboard.

Within the production dashboard, navigate to the table located at the bottom. This table provides the option to sort data by well count or production levels. Utilizing these sorting options can be beneficial for various analytical purposes during your evaluation.

Although this process can be applied to any operator, we will begin our evaluation with companies similar in well count to Steward Energy II.

As you hover over Steward Energy II on the map, you will notice that their wells become highlighted, allowing for easier identification and analysis.

Click the check box to the left of the company names to be analyzed closer.

Next scroll to the top of the table, and click "Map"

The companies you have selected will now be incorporated as one of your filters, resulting in the table displaying only the data pertinent to these specific companies. Additionally, you have the option to export this table as an XLS file, which will include the aggregated data for your analysis.

Operator Comparison

Once you have narrowed your selection to the companies of interest, the analytics charts will offer deeper insights, enabling you to refine your list further.

For example, you may find that one of the selected companies exhibits significantly lower production levels. Although this company was part of your initial selection, it may not align with your specific targeting criteria.

You can easily exclude Amalgamated Sludge from the operator by volume chart. Simply left-click on their volume within the chart and select the "Exclude" option to remove them from your data set, then repeat the same for EXTEX Operating Company.

The volumes now align with the criteria established for the companies we are targeting. You can further analyze this data by examining the operator over time chart. To focus on a specific timeframe or volume level, simply highlight an area on the chart. To do this, click and hold the mouse button to draw a box around the desired section of the chart.

Now, our chart is reflective of volumes only over the past 5 years.

In addition to the production dashboard, you can explore these operators against each other for permitting, completions, and more with our standard dashboards.

Consider utilizing the "Operator Comparison" dashboard. You can access this feature by selecting the last option labeled "Dashboards" in the dashboard dropdown menu, which will direct you to a variety of additional custom dashboards, including the Operator Comparison.

At the top of your custom dashboard, you will find a dropdown menu that displays all available user and system custom dashboards. From this list, select "Operator Comparison" to proceed.

In addition to KPI widgets, this dashboard offers a range of additional data points to compare operators.
