What data is contained in the Test Records?

This articles gives an overview of the data points that can be found in the Test Records.

Test records contain all of the detail provided on initial and annual tests. It is common to see a more robust dataset for initial tests vs subsequent testing. Data points such as pressures, pump information, flowing methods, gravities, and more can be found here.

Reference Information

Each test record contains multiple identifiers for database management:

  • Well Type: Well type as of the date of the test
  • Interpreted Formation: Formation identified as the producing tested through tops interpretation
  • Operator: Operator performing the test
  • Reported Operator: Operator performing the test as reported
  • Completion ID: State completion identifier
  • State ID: State test identifier

Test Parameters

Key operational parameters recorded during the test:

  • Test Type: Type of test performed
  • Test Hours: Hours test was performed
  • Test Date: Date of well test
  • Shut-In Date: Date well was shut-in, typically when the test record is filed
  • Lifting Method: Method used for production test (flow, gas lift jetting, pumping, etc.)
  • Pump Type: Type of pump used in test
  • Pump Size: Size of pump used in test
  • Choke Size: Orifice choke size during test

Production Measurements

Test Production

  • Test Oil: Amount of oil produced during test
  • Test Gas: Amount of gas produced during test
  • Test Water: Amount of water produced during test

Daily Normalized Production

  • Daily Oil: Amount of oil produced, normalized to a 24-hour period
  • Daily Gas: Amount of gas produced, normalized to a 24-hour period
  • Daily Water: Amount of water produced, normalized to a 24-hour period

Prior Production

Prior production is typically only reported on initial potential test.

  • Prior Oil Production: Oil produced prior to test record
  • Prior Gas Production: Gas produced prior to test record
  • Prior Water Production: Water produced prior to test record

Pressure and Temperature Readings

  • Meter Pressure: Pressure measured during test
  • Flow Pressure: Flowing pressure reported on the well test
  • Casing Pressure: Casing pressure reported on the well test
  • Shut-In Pressure: Shut-in pressure
  • Bottom Hole Pressure: Bottom hole pressure reported on the well test
  • Well Head Flow Temp: Temperature at well head during test
  • Shut-In Temp: Shut-in temperature
  • Bottom Hole Temp: Bottom hole temperature reported on the well test

Fluid Properties

  • Dry Gas Gravity: Gravity of dry gas produced
  • OilGravity: Gravity of oil produced
  • Mixture Gravity: Gravity of oil/gas mixture produced
  • GOR: Gas/Oil ratio

Records Management

  • ID: Internal unique identifier
  • Well ID: Unique well identifier
  • Simple ID: Integer identifier for quick querying
  • Internal ID: Unique record identifier for quick querying
  • Date Created: Date record was created in WellDatabase
  • Date Last Modified: Date record was last modified in WellDatabase
  • Date Catalogued: Date and time record was catalogued into the export database
