In our WDB Overlays, there are several pipeline layers available. However, you might find that you only wish to display a single pipeline instead of all the pipelines included in the chosen overlay. This article will guide you through the process.
To start, let's add the pipeline you are working with from the WDB Overlays, and click the "Interactive button" before adding the layer.
Since we made the layer interactive above, we will be able to left click on any of the pipeline segments to "export a shape"
Note: The source data breaks the pipeline into sub-sections; at each turn or crossing in the pipeline.
Give your file a unique name, and keep in mind there may be multiple segments that you need to save to create the entire line string. You may consider adding "A, B, C" or "1, 2, 3" behind the end of your name.
In addition, choose if you want to export the file as a GeoJSON or a Shapefile, then click Export.
To confirm the segment that was saved, you can add the new shapefile to your map. I chose to make the color of the added shapefile black so that I could see the contrast in my pipeline layer allowing me to grab all segments that I am looking to include.
Confirm that you have all segments loaded.
Then you can hide (or remove) the pipeline layer
The pipeline you are focused on will now be the only pipeline showing on your map for a cleaner look.
For future use, consider utilizing free tools such as QGIS to merge these segments into a single shapefile.
