Can I create a data layer to highlight my project wells?

Yes, you can generate a data layer that includes the wells from your project. This article will walk through how to create the data layer and then expand your area of interest to encompass off-set wells, with these wells highlighted on your map.

To get started, let's open a project by navigating to My -> Projects and clicking on the current project. Then click on the icon for the well list:

Click "Map Wells" to view these wells on your map.

Once the wells from your project are visible on your map, locate the Tools panel on the right side of the map. Click on the gear icon next to the Well Layer section, and then select the option labeled "Convert to Data Layer."

Give the layer a name, and then click on the Visualization tab on the left.

In the next step, we want to visualize well spots, as a solid color, and make the well spots larger than those on the primary layer.

Note: this color can be changed by clicking on the box, but for this example we will leave the color black.

On the surface hole and bottom hole, I will start by increasing their size to 12, however, this can be adjusted either up or down later by editing the data layer if the well spots are too large or not large enough to be visible. Once you have these setting adjusted, click load in the bottom right corner.

To modify the outline size of the highlighted wells after they have appeared on your map, simply return to the Tools panel. Click on the gear icon next to your layer, then select the edit option to access the settings panel again.

Once the highlighted wells are displayed on your map at the desired size, navigate to the filters panel located on the left side of the map. If the option "Zoom to Results" is currently selected in the search bar, please uncheck it for this exercise.

Next, we will adjust the Datasource in the filters from your project to "Public." By doing this, your original project wells will continue to be highlighted, while the wells that are offset from your project will also become visible. Since we have unchecked the "Zoom to Results" option, you will remain zoomed in on the current area.

While hovering over a well from the list will still highlight that wells location on the map, it will also continue to show the data layer to give a quick view at the wells within your project.
